Music

In my continuous exploration of music I often go through phases of listening to a particular song, artist, or genres. The phase passes, I stop listening to those songs obsessively, and I move on to a something new. It’s not that I stop listening to these songs, artists, or genres; they fall into the depths of my iTunes library and they no longer are what I play every other song, but after the phase passes I can say “That’s a song or an artist or a genre…” that I really love. And of course, when it comes up on shuffle it reminds me of where I was when I discovered that song.

For example, I discovered Gangsta Rap, specifically The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac while I was interning in Washington DC in the summer of 2008. I now listen to far more Gangsta Rap artists but I always think back to what first sparked my interest.
